In 1997 Robert Anthony was employed as a management and financial consultant to one of the largest employers in the world. He was hired to improve morale, streamline operations and assess the human resources in a major area of this organization. He found a staff of dedicated employees with a variety of valuable skills. However he also discovered that due to a rigid managerial culture that most people were treated like children. Employees were discouraged from asking questions or making suggestions.
It seemed the strategy was to ignore the problem rather than deal with the root cause. Robert proposed a number of changes that included encouraging and supporting the staff to ask questions and make decisions within their areas of responsibility. As a result within weeks of this change of management style, rather than watching the clock all day people began to enjoy their work and often needed to be reminded to go home. By chance he had introduce a basic form of a self-improvement program that was simply based on handing people back their dignity and respecting where they were at in their lives and they appreciated how quickly they could overcome limiting beliefs. An approach he took to reinforce this was that when staff approached him for help with a problem he would tell them that they did not have a problem, what they had was an answer that they had not found. He then challenged them to go back and look at how to begin changing beliefs they held about solving issues they found.
They began to discover the benefits of balance, inner happiness, self-esteem, confidence in their abilities and the first step toward finding fulfillment in life. Robert felt compelled to find a way to share this experience with the world and encouraged by his wife he decided to do something to share the experience with others. As he began this project “people began to appear” who became the speakers in the movie or backup support. They came from all walks of life to contribute to a message that is for everyone. The purpose of everyone involved is as simple as the Wheel itself. They are here to show you how to have balance, how to find balance and that this way you will discover how to change beliefs that have not served you well. Questioning beliefs that have not served you well is the first step toward finding new beliefs that ultimately leads to you finding fulfillment in life.
Robert chose the Wheel of Life as the framework and tool anyone can use to discover the role of balance in achieving happiness and a great life. He did it because it has been with Humanity in so many forms – Wheel of Life, the Great Round, the Spiraling Circle, the Medicine Wheel and the Circle of Life. The rest as they say is history… in the making.
